The 10 Commandents according to:-
Exodus 20:1-17
"The Teaching of the Catholic Church
A New Catechism of Christian Doctrine"

And God spake all these words, saying, I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

God said: I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of slavery:

Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

I

You shall have no gods except me

[The above is exactly what is contained in "The Teaching of the Catholic Church", complete with ellipses.]

Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

II

You shall not speak the name of the Lord to misuse it;

Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

III

Keep the Sabbath day holy;

Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

IV

Honour your father and mother;

Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.

V

You shall not kill;

Thou shalt not kill.

VI

You shall not commit adultery;

Thou shalt not commit adultery.

VII

You shall not steal;

Thou shalt not steal.

VIII

You shall not testify falsely against your neighbour;

Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.

IX

You shall not covet your neighbour's wife;

Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.

X

You shall not covet your neighbour's possessions.

Note:
It is clear from the above that the two sets of commandments are different. There is a plain attempt to hide the commandment against making graven images - a sin so grave as to require repeated warnings throughout Scripture. For example:

"Ye shall make you no idols nor graven image, neither rear you up a standing image, neither shall ye set up any image of stone in your land, to bow down unto it: for I am the LORD your God." - Leviticus 26:1

There are also strong warnings in God's Word against changing it. For example:

"Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you." - Deuteronomy 4:2

But the Council of Trent decreed:

"The images of Christ and the Virgin Mother of God, and the other saints, are to be had and to be kept, especially in Churches, and due honour and veneration are to be given them."
