EDUCATION

BEFORE YOUR VISIT please read through the Health and Safety advice given. You may like to prepare your class by carrying out some of the activities on this site. These may help introduce the farm and will compliment some of the activities available.

ACTIVITIES AVAILABLE

We welcome visits from schools or groups from other establishments at the Farm. We are keen to work with teachers and playgroup workers to tailor visits to suit your groups needs. Please phone or visit to discuss options and book a visit.

GUIDED TOUR

A general tour of the farm with information on farming, welfare, breeds and your questions answered.

We have a selection of colouring and activity sheets, pencils and crayons available for pre-school, ks1 and ks2 and playgroups to use at the Farm.

DAIRYING

A look at where milk comes from and how it gets from the cow to to your table. Discover what can be made from milk - and try making your own butter.

WOOLLY WONDER

A look sheep and the use of wool and it's origin with examples to explore. There will also be a chance to have a go at carding, weaving and/or felting.

ANIMAL CARE

A chance to find out more about the animals at the farm, and how we look after them. Hands on grooming, feeding, and changing water. We can discuss real farms and farm animal needs after looking at video and slides.

In groups use a map and orienteering excercises to answer a quiz and explore. Suitable for KS1 and KS2.

EGG INCUBATION PROJECTS (PER PROJECT)

The Farm can provide all the equipment and advice needed to carry out this worthwhile project in the classroom including introductory, illustrated talk on chick development inside the egg. Chicks raised can then be returned to the Farm
